At the entrance to Petra
Entering the gorge
30 awe-inspiring minutes later as we continued to walk through the gorge.
It is coming......
Can you believe how HUGE this is!?!
Beginning the ascent to the Monastary---950 steps UP!
Ok: this is really funny....we ran into this girl who saw my BYU shirt and pulled out her
Utah UTES sweatshirt. Who would have thought that "the rivalry" could carry across so many countries:) It was so funny, we took a picture together!
The theatre---see the benches carved into the mountainside? Brent and the kids decided to put on a tradgedy of their own:)
All of this rock coloring and formation is natural and a result of years of erosion. It was remarkable and beautiful!
Finally, 8 1/2 hours later, we made it back to the beginning. Petra was truly amazing and we were blessed and in awe to see it. God's creations in nature are so amazing!
Kids enjoying LOTS of ice cream and the Movenpick ice cream parlor back in town:) What a way to end a great day!

I would love to go there someday! So glad you got to go!
Wow, what a great adventure! Your kids are so lucky to experience all of this! Our very favorite ice cream place here in Singapore is also Movenpick ice cream! Yum!
what an awesome adventure!! The pictures are amazing but my favorite has to be the tragedy enactment. I love Sarah's expression :)
So want to go there! But I don't think I want to take the route you did, via stomach flu and 5 hour border crossings.
How amazing that you were able to do that together! We love you and miss you so much! You all look so good.
Oh man, that's so cool. For the record, I recognized the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade scene in the pictures before you mentioned it. And, for the record, I am officially jealous.
